A key for a communal garage for bicycles can be hired for £25/year. The garage is kept for use by cyclists at Beauchamp Place to store their cycles securely in the dry. There is also an enclosed area for bikes with a password protected gate with stands to lock cycles to. The password is changed regularly. At present (July 2016) there is a waiting list for use of the garage. The enclosure for bikes appears to have enough space for more bikes.

The enclosure and gate is shown in a panoramic view below:

Oxford has an extensive network of cycle routes around Oxford which avoid the main roads. Most main roads also have cycle lanes but cyclists still have to suffer the fumes of the cars and buses so routes around the back streets are much more agreeable even if they may be slightly longer. However the jewels in the crown are the paths along the river and canals. These follow the many water ways passing through Oxford and are particularly extensive in the North South direction. You can cycle along the river from Abingdon in the South to Kidlington in the North.

The nearest access point to the river is at Iffley Lock and is shown on the map below. This route requires about 1km of cycling along the road (shown in blue) before reaching the Lock. A riverside pub (The Isis tavern) is about 100m from the lock with gardens, food etc.)
